Sanctions, extradition, asset protection and recovery are now a primary area of our expertise. In these areas we specialize in Russia and the former Soviet Union and are often retained in disputes when clients were unlawfully prosecuted in their home countries or whose assets were stolen or are under threat of expropriation. We are experts in Russian law and often advise or serve as expert witness on matters concerning Russia within the limits of UK, US and EU sanctions legislation.
Public advocacy is one of our strongest areas although the vast majority of it is pro-bono as it needs to fit the ethos of our firm. We are deeply involved in the promotion and use of Magnitsky Acts, sanctions against Russia, and efforts to aid Ukraine.
